About ekkoBSD
ekkoBSD came about as a way of easily installing
another BSD flavor. The idea was to provide a gui to the user,
simplify the partitioning mechanism, and give the user an admin
utility (like IBM and HP have).
Since it's origin, ekkoBSD has grown (in idea) to becoming
a secure OS that not only provides ease of installation, but also
provides Single Use Servers that make building firewalls, wifi
access points, web servers, etc. much quicker to setup and deploy.
About the People
Rick Collette - Unix Systems Administrator, Network Admin, Security Admin by trade, ekkoBSD primary maintainer by night. Rick Collette has an extensive background in operating system integration, installation, deployment, and design. Starting back in the early 90's, Rick's experience in Unix-like systems began with Linux, the BSD's, and eventually into the "big guys".
Michelle Collette - Michelle runs the papermill for the project. She is the only full-time volunteer the project has (as of 08/06/2003), and handles the mailings, email delegation, PR, advertisements, cashflow, and anything non-technical that needs to be handled.
Dave Steinberg - Dave has experience in system administration and a
variety of programming languages. Currently he earns his paycheck doing OO
Perl in the sports industry and operates a hosting company, GeekISP in his spare time. An ambitious
Perl and C hacker, he hopes to become more involved with kernel development
as his experience grows. Dave is also currently responsable for the bsd licensed version of a "dialog" drop in replacement.
