Put a blank DVD or CD into the disk drive of the computer and you’ll see a box pop up. 3 Software Titles for Changing Video Formats on the Computer

DVD header files are .ifo fies. Even though it doesn’t store video and audio data, it holds instructions for a DVD player on how it can play the video. Where The Keyboards For Computers Originated

When we look at our keyboards for our computers, it’s not unusual to wonder where it got its start and who came up with the idea. Some historians have suggested that the typewriter’s debut founded the original model for our modern-day keyboard.

During the high point of the Victorian era, (the 1860’s) the typewriter was invented by Christopher Sholes, with the additional help from Carlos Glidden and Samuel Soule. Sholes was a Pennsylvania-born man who had thorough knowledge of the printing and publishing trades. His father Orrin in taught each of his sons, including Christopher how to be successful in the printing business. In the mid-19th century, Sholes was the owner and publisher of his own paper in Wisconsin. He also developed an interest in politics prior to the start of the Civil War.

Sholes wanted a way to quickly convey his thoughts and addressing his newspaper’s subscribers without the ongoing need for utilizing ink. While he resided in Milwaukee, he invented a machine that enabled an easier method for numbering train tickets and banking documents. Carlos Glidden was a lawyer. He and Sholes met in Milwaukee at one of the local workshops, which permitted new inventors to develop their ideas. Samuel Soule was an engineer and developed the blueprints for many introductory ideas. Their first completed typewriter was tested following the close of the Civil War.

Sholes’ friend and previous business partner (James Densmore) was responsible for attempting to market the first model typewriter. Sholes found that paper frequently got stuck in the machine, so more work needed to be done. Available literature suggests that Sholes’ first typewriter had lettering displayed in alphabetical order, (very close together) which he believed was part of the reason for continuous paper jams. While some may not believe that the keyboards computers have are related to the typewriter, the outward appearance is very similar.

One of the most important parts of owning a computer is making sure that your data is backed up in case your computer fails or something happens to it. The first step is developing a plan as to what you would like to backup. There are two types of backups, incremental and full backups. Full backups are just that entire backups of the data. Incremental backups only backup the data that has changed, making them very efficient. Once you establish the kind of backup you need to come up with a schedule to backup on. Also make sure you get everything you need to actually backup, sometimes commonly overlooked things are bookmarks, address book and fonts.

There are several ways you can go about backing things up. One of these options is a traditional method of burning the data to a CD or DVD. The problem with this is that these mediums are easily scratched and odds are good they will not hold enough data. Another great option is backing up to a flash drive, they make flash drives (also called thumb drives) up to 128 gigs now so there is no reason you cannot include everything. Again another option might be to invest in an external hard drive, there are fairly inexpensive these days and will have enough space for nearly everything.

These days even yet another option might be to look at some online backup services, one popular one is called Dropbox. Although it’s not intended specifically for backups, the advantage it gives you is that any data you put in your Dropbox, will be synced across every PC or Mac that you have the software installed on. Mozy is another online backups. It does incremental  backups and is very specific in regards to ensuring it doesn’t back up.
